Overview[]
The MP5 is a 9mm submachine gun of German design, developed in the 1960s by a group of engineers from the West German arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch GmbH (HK). The company, motivated by the success of the G3 rifle developed a group of small arms consisting of four types of firearms (all based on the G3 design layout), where the first type was chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, the second – using the 7.62x39mm M43 round, third – the intermediate 5.56x45mm NATO caliber and the fourth type – chambering the 9x19mm Parabellum pistol cartridge. The MP5 (short for Maschinenpistole 5) was created within the fourth group of firearms, initially known as the HK54.
Appearances[]
The Bourne Conspiracy[]
The MP5 has made its appearance in The Bourne Conspiracy as a usable weapon. Althought not as effective as its assault rifle counterpart, it can be fitted with a silencer if using the cheat code, "WHATTHEYMAKEYOUGIVE".
The Bourne Identity[]
The MP5K is used in the first movie by U.S. Marines that are hunting down Jason Bourne, who is escaping the U.S. Embassy in Zurich. This is a continuity error, as he was carrying an M16 variant in other shots
The Bourne Supremacy[]
The A3 and SD6 variants are also seen in The Bourne Supremacy.
The Bourne Legacy[]
Two of the four agents sent to kill Dr. Shearing, are seen using a Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW.
